Sunday, I took the train back to Ghent. Two stops later, two girls came to sit beside me. One was reading a book and sighed to her friend: “I just can’t get into this story. Augustus is such a silly name!” I looked at her and said: “I’ve read the book. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. Hold on, give it a chance.” Her friend got really excited: “You’ve read it too?! It’s wonderful, isn’t it?! :)” I loved meeting a stranger who read tfios too. As I live in Belgium, not much people know the book yet. We started talking about the book with so much excitement, her friend mumbled: “Better keep reading then…” I hope she got to read the whole book. It’s really worth it.
So I’ve read The Night Circus and I have to say: this book took me by surprise. I had not heard of it yet, but I love stories with a circus in it, so I bought it. But it’s actually so much more then a book about a circus… it’s a love story, several love stories actually. I especially loved the story between Bailey and Widget. The book is magical, in it’s own way. Morgenstern did a great job creating a mysterious atmosphere in the book, but her descriptions are also very well done. I love how everything stays mysterious. It leaves you guessing sometimes… So, great book. I can surely recommend it! I’ve heard they’re gonna make a movie about it. Hope it’s any good. I think they will have a tough time creating the same atmosphere. Some things are just better in books.
I started reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern last night. I had it at home for a while now, but hadn’t read it yet. So far, it’s an intriguing story…
Has anyone read it yet?
